Lismore fire department to reapply for FEMA grant; two volunteer applications approved (one contingent)

Jim, speaking for the Lismore Fire Department, reported at the Nov. 12 council meeting that the department had provided call logs requested by an attorney in connection with the Loosbrock accident inquiry. The department also reported responding to two mutual-aid fires (one in Adrian and one in Reading) and to a rescue call.
The department received two volunteer applications: Andy Rahe and Andrew Fodness. The council approved both applications; the minutes specify that Andy Rahe's approval is contingent on a satisfactory background check while Andrew Fodness's background check returned clear and he was accepted. The minutes state the motion to approve the applications passed (mover Ryan Schieck, seconded by Kris Weidert) and records "all in favor, motion carried."
Jim said the department will reapply for a FEMA grant after an unsuccessful prior application; grant writer Karin is preparing the submission. Jim also said he will solicit bids for new radios, noting the department had been approved for an ARMER grant that will fund radio purchases.
The council recorded and approved the Fire Department report; no dollar amounts, application IDs, or timelines for the grant submission were included in the minutes.
