Lismore council approves consent items, new-home permit and tax-abatement resolution

The City of Lismore City Council on Aug. 12 approved its meeting agenda, the July 8 minutes and the monthly financial statement, and authorized several routine items and resolutions.
Mayor Wayne Bents called the meeting to order. The council approved the agenda on a motion by Kris Weidert, seconded by Kathryn Weber, and then approved the July 8, 2024 minutes on a motion by Cliff Altman, seconded by Ryan Schieck. Amber Bertrand, city clerk, presented the financial statement showing deposits and invoices from the prior month; the council approved payment of invoices and the stated transfers on a motion by Ryan Schieck, seconded by Kris Weidert.
The council approved a building permit for a new home for Ken and Sharon Rupp after Justin reviewed the water-side elements and reported they appeared satisfactory (motion by Cliff Altman, seconded by Kris Weidert). The body also approved Resolution 24.8.1, a tax abatement for the Rupps under the city’s New Home Initiative Plan adopted in January 2023 (motion by Kris Weidert, seconded by Cliff Altman).
The council voted that the city does not waive the monetary limits on municipal tort liability (motion by Ryan Schieck, seconded by Cliff Altman); Amber Bertrand will return the completed form to the city’s insurance contact, Barry.
The meeting adjourned on a motion by Cliff Altman, seconded by Kathryn Weber. The next council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
