Red Lake Falls council accepts $750 in donations, orders 2026 street report and extends Grinder Ordinance

The Red Lake Falls City Council approved several routine but consequential items at its Jan. 26 meeting, including acceptance of $750 in donations for the volunteer fire department, direction to Moore Engineering, Inc. to prepare a 2026 street and utility improvements report, and an extension of Grinder Ordinance #56.
The meeting opened at 6:01 p.m. and the council approved an amended agenda that tabled Item 6.02 (Dilapidated Building) and Item 6.08 (Personnel Manual). The consent agenda — including approval of the Jan. 5, 2026 minutes and the bills and disbursements — passed on a unanimous vote.
On a unanimous vote, the council approved a resolution accepting donations of $500 from Jennifer and Robert Proulx and $250 from Oak Lake Golf Course for the Red Lake Falls Volunteer Fire Department’s pumper truck. The motion was moved by Council member Joyce Kalbakdalen and seconded by Council member Cheryl Matzke.
Also on a unanimous vote, the council approved a resolution (moved by Council member John Kleven, seconded by Kalbakdalen) ordering the preparation of a report on improvements for the city’s 2026 street and utility project; Moore Engineering, Inc. was named to prepare the report.
Council member John Kleven moved, and Neil Knaack seconded, a motion to extend the expiration date of Grinder Ordinance #56 to March 23, 2026; the motion passed unanimously. The council noted that Kleven may attend future council meetings via interactive technology during February and March 2026.
The council adjourned to a work session scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, in the Council Chambers and formally adjourned the regular meeting at 7:09 p.m. Minutes were signed by Mayor Allen Bertilrud and City Administrator Kathleen Schmitz.
