EDA flags noncompliance over taxes for On the Crunchy Side property

During its Jan. 5, 2023 meeting the Harmony Economic Development Authority reviewed the status of active development agreements and identified one project out of compliance: On the Crunchy Side.
Chris Giesen, an EDA staff member, told the board that all agreements were current with obligations except On the Crunchy Side (associated with owners Miles Petree and Lisa Miller), which was not current on property taxes as required by its agreement. Giesen said he had spoken with the owner two weeks earlier and been promised a resolution, but the issue remained unresolved.
Board members discussed several response options and agreed by consensus to have staff contact the owners again in an effort to secure compliance. The board noted public inquiries about the noncompliant status and emphasized that property taxes must remain current through the duration of the agreement.
The minutes record that if staff contact does not resolve the issue, further action will be considered; the minutes do not specify what sanctions or enforcement steps would follow. The EDA also agreed to review the status of all development agreements at least twice a year to ensure ongoing compliance.
