Board approves multiyear contracts with Legacy and Williams for student transportation after committee negotiation

The Melrose Public School District board approved multiyear transportation contracts with Legacy Bus Service and Williams Bus Service following a transportation committee review that adjusted billing structure and added clearer cancellation and notification rules.

Committee members said they shifted activity-trip billing to an hourly structure rather than mileage-plus-driver-hours and removed a separate fuel surcharge. The committee reported it retained Department of Transportation compliance language in the contracts. "It is resolved," a committee member said after describing agreed contract changes and notification procedures for cancellations and last-minute route changes.
