Board approves two used buses, accepts multiple donations and approves School Resource Officer policy

At its June 2 meeting the Mesabi East School Board approved a set of operational and policy items, including vehicle purchases, banking designation, donations, and memberships.
On a motion from Director Adams, seconded by Director Undeland, the board approved buying two 2017 International school buses for $34,249.76 and $35,088.04 respectively, totaling $69,337.80. The board also approved First National Bank of Gilbert as a designated depositor for the district for the term beginning June 1 and ending December 31, 2025.
Director Baudhuin moved and Director LaFrenier seconded acceptance of several donations: $500 for the Speech Team; $2,000 apportioned as $500 each to the Rec. Department, Cheer, Youth In Action, and a high school hydration station; $500 for activities to bring students and staff together; $450 for Pep Club; and a $100,000 monetary donation for which the minutes do not state the designated recipient or purpose.
The board accepted Policy 507.5, "School Resource Officers," on its second reading after a motion by Director Baudhuin and a second from Director LaFrenier. The minutes also record approval of Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) dues and policy services renewal for 2025–26 in the amount of $5,224.00 and approval of the district's membership in the Minnesota State High School League for 2025–26.
