Onalaska board honors state track qualifiers, recognizes donations and retiring staff

At its June 22 meeting the board welcomed state track qualifiers, thanked donors to school libraries and classrooms, and recognized longtime employees retiring after years of service.
The Onalaska School Board opened its June 22 meeting by recognizing student athletes and community supporters.
Coach Zach Wallenfang introduced state qualifiers Ricky Tillitson and Elen Gillis. Ricky told the board, "My name is Ricky Tillitson. I did both the discus and triple jump at state... it was such an amazing experience at state." Elen, who ran the 400 and the 4x4 relay, said her favorite moment was running with a teammate who helped build her confidence.
Board members thanked the students and coach and then acknowledged donations: $10 from Rosemary Molen to the Irving Perch Elementary Library in memory of Kim Clark, and $250 from Keys Architecture for books for ELA classrooms at Onalaska High School.
Before adjourning, the board also thanked Lori and Todd for their years of service as they leave the district and wished them well in retirement.
The board's recognition of students, donors and departing staff was run as part of the meeting's information and consent items and required no formal board action.
