Loganville seeks state utility aid for SR‑20 sewer main upgrade to HDPE

"The hard part is this whole question of betterment," Bill said, noting the city expects HDPE to last longer but that state aid levels can be affected if new materials are considered a betterment. Engineers will prepare 44‑series plan estimates to allow GDOT and the state utility engineer to evaluate whether the HDPE option is eligible for aid or results in adjusted utility aid levels.
Council agreed staff should continue coordinating with the state utility engineer and obtain the detailed estimates needed to finalize the funding request and design.
Next steps include engineer cost estimates for both ductile iron replacement and HDPE installation, and submission of the estimate package to the state for utility aid consideration.
