The Leominster City Council voted unanimously to confirm Tatiana Lara Melendez to the Leominster Public Library Board of Trustees after a committee interview on June 22.
Tatiana Lara Melendez told the Ways and Means committee she has lived in Leominster for more than 25 years and has over 23 years’ experience working at the Department of Developmental Services, where she supervises services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. She described long volunteer engagement with local schools, including seven years chairing the English Learners Parent Advisory Council (ELPAC) in the Leominster School District and work representing the district at the statewide equivalent (ELAC). “I have been a Leominster resident for over 25 years,” she said during her interview.
Committee members praised her bilingual and community‑based experience and recommended confirmation. The full council adopted the Ways and Means recommendation by roll‑call vote marked unanimous; the clerk recorded the vote as "yay" by all present councilors.
What happens next: Melendez’s term is recorded in the meeting materials to expire April 15, 2029; the council indicated it would take her confirmation up at the start of the regular meeting following the interview.
