The Butte City judiciary committee on June 24 held Council Bill/Ordinance 2026-02, which would amend Chapter 2.16 (fire department) and a section of Chapter 26 of the BSBMC addressing jurisdictional area, pending the public hearing scheduled for the same evening.
The item had been continued previously and the committee confirmed it would remain on hold pending the public hearing and any testimony. A motion was made and amended to specify that the hold was "pending the public hearing," the amendment was seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote.
No substantive changes were adopted at the June 24 committee meeting; the committee will consider testimony from the public hearing before moving forward on the proposed ordinance.
