Underwood approves Trailhead Park tree removal to serve as town Christmas tree; Junkwood 2025 street closure set for June 14

The council approved removing a partially dead tree at Trailhead Park and repurposing it as Underwood’s Christmas tree to be placed in the intersection of 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue. The motion to cut and reuse the tree passed 4-0 (Jodi Bose moved; Kelle Erwin seconded).
Sandy Redshaw, president of Friends of Underwood, asked the council to approve Junkwood 2025 for Saturday, June 14, 2025. The council approved the event and the requested street closure from 5 p.m. Friday, June 13 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 14 on 3rd Street between 3rd Avenue and 1st Avenue (motion passed 4-0). Redshaw also announced the community’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.
The council noted Friends of Underwood purchased new decorations and that staff will work on installing decorations and photo sensors for next season.
