The Richmond Water and Sewer Commission voted Dec. 15 to approve purchase order 5326 to Zyllem Water Solutions USA for an influent pump and associated components totaling $30,945.71.
Steve explained the purchase was for the pump unit only; the town will perform installation work in‑house to save money. He said the original quote had been about $34,000 and that using the existing variable frequency drive (VFD) where feasible will reduce costs. Steve estimated plumbing parts for the installation at roughly $1,000 and noted some electrical work could add to the town’s expense, possibly bringing electrical costs near $3,000 depending on final wiring needs.
David moved to approve the purchase order; Ball seconded. When the commission called roll, members indicated aye and the motion passed unanimously as recorded.
Staff said they have demoed the old pump, are preparing the floor and grout for the new pump, and will align piping and electrical before startup.
Next step: staff to order the pump and schedule installation and any needed electrical work.
