Connersville board approves equipment purchase, repairs, trash pickups and promotion; city and utility claims cleared

The Board of Public Works and Safety of Connersville City approved a series of routine administrative actions at its Jan. 20 meeting, including equipment purchases, property cleanups, a facilities repair and a personnel promotion.
Utility/Street Director Jeremy Wilson asked the board to approve the purchase of a Wi‑Fi‑enabled sewer push camera from C&S Solutions for $9,469.99. Wilson told the board the department’s older cameras have been failing and there is no local service to repair them; he noted the vendor is about 50 minutes away and offers a loaner if an onsite fix is not possible. Jim Barrett moved to approve the purchase, Diana Phillips seconded, and all board members voted yes.
Wilson also requested city pickup of trash at 3030 Western Ave and at 1826–1834 Virginia Ave; the board approved the pickups after a motion by Jim Barrett and second from Diana Phillips. Wilson reported a contractor estimate of $3,200.00 from Brett Firsich to repair a damaged middle garage door frame at the Transfer Station; the board approved that repair on a unanimous vote.
Fire Chief Scott Jones requested promotion of Captain Jacob Bohlander to battalion chief. Diana Phillips moved to approve the promotion, Jim Barrett seconded, and the board voted unanimously to promote Bohlander.
At the end of the meeting the board approved the City of Connersville claims totaling $236,234.11, the City's payroll claims of $637,051.54 and Utility claims of $1,309,558.41; those motions passed unanimously. Diana Phillips then moved to adjourn; Jim Barrett seconded and the board voted to adjourn the meeting.
Department heads who presented monthly reports included Chief Scott Jones (Fire), Chief Clint Hardin (EMS), Director John Pause (Cable TV), Park Director Marla Steele and Director Jeremy Wilson (Utilities/Street). The minutes record no formal action arising from the reports.
