The Adair County Board of Supervisors unanimously appointed Ruthie Smith as Adair County Auditor at its June 17, 2026 regular meeting. Supervisor Hoadley moved to appoint Smith and Supervisor Wedemeyer seconded; a roll call vote recorded Hoadley, Wedemeyer, Baier, Walker and Vice Chair Michael Christoffersen voting aye.
The motion included administrative directions that former Auditor Mandy Berg be removed from all county accounts and that Ruthie Smith be added to those accounts effective June 17, 2026. After the vote, Smith was administered the Oath of Office.
The appointment gives Smith the statutory responsibilities of the county auditor, including custody of certain county financial records and authorization to sign on county accounts as directed by the board. The board did not record any dissent and characterized the action as an administrative appointment.
The board completed other routine business and adjourned at 9:09 a.m.
