Cusseta–Chattahoochee commissioners approve bank account, road change, reappointments and create Public Safety Director post

The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County voted Feb. 4 to open a 2025 SPLOST bank account, approve an LMIG project change from Riverbend Road to Friendship Road, reappoint three members to the Planning & Zoning board and create a new Public Safety Director position.
Chairman Charles Coffey convened the meeting at 9:00 a.m. and led a series of consent votes. Commissioner Jason Frost moved to open the SPLOST bank account; Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded, and the motion was recorded as approved by the board. The commission also approved the LMIG change and reappointments of Randy Register, Teresa Smith and Willie Brown to Planning & Zoning; the panel recorded those motions as passed without dissent. Commissioner Frost moved to create a Public Safety Director position; Commissioner Biddle seconded and the commission approved the position.
The board approved minutes for prior meetings; the minutes record Commissioner Biddle as abstaining from votes on Jan. 7 items because he was absent for that meeting. The regular meeting included an executive session to discuss legal matters; Chairman Coffey stated after reconvening that the subjects were within the open-meetings law exceptions and that no votes were taken in closed session.
An employee termination appeal was placed on the record as requiring no further action. The meeting adjourned at 7:09 p.m.
What this means: the SPLOST bank account is a housekeeping step to receive 2025 project funds; the LMIG change shifts a resurfacing/rehab scope from Riverbend Road to Friendship Road for the county’s LMIG submittal; the new Public Safety Director position creates an administrative post that the county will need to staff through its human-resources and budget processes.
