The Olean City School District Board approved the 2026–27 code of conduct at its June 23 meeting after committee review and a public hearing earlier that night.
Board members praised the committeeprocess and the adoption of a one-page summary to clearly highlight changes. During discussion, members emphasized that policy will require ongoing review as artificial intelligence tools evolve and that law and practice may lag behind technological change; the board indicated it will continue to monitor AI-related issues and update the code as needed.
The motion to adopt the code of conduct passed by voice vote. Board members noted that consistent enforcement across parents, students, administrators and board members will be important to the policys success, and that follow-up work will continue into the new school year.
