Ms. Meb Ryan, co‑chair, and Eleanor Rhangos, chair, said the club voted in 2016 to pursue a legacy project to steward Forsyth Park and is funding the master‑planning process. They outlined goals to assess park conditions, secure historic designation, collect neighborhood histories and community input, and solicit RFP responses from planning firms. Outreach materials cited in the presentation include a project website (friendsofforsythpark.org) and postcards to steer residents to online feedback channels.
Mayor Pro‑Tem Carolyn H. Bell recommended outreach to high schools, colleges, churches and senior groups, and suggested consideration of naming rights as a fundraising tool. The presenters said the final selection of a planning firm will begin after RFP responses are received and that the planning process will include public meetings for community feedback.
No council vote was recorded on the master plan at the work session; the item provided council with an update on outreach strategy and next steps for a planning firm selection.
