Maple Lake council denies two massage-license applications, approves one pending fees

Council approved Resolution 2026-13, denying the Therapeutic Massage Enterprise License application for Serenity Asian Massage and the Massage Therapist license application for Yuping Wang. Councilor Kris Logas moved the resolution and Councilor Lori Hausken seconded; the motion passed 4-0.
The denials remove those applicants from consideration for city-issued therapeutic massage licenses. The council minutes do not record additional detail about the grounds for denial in the public record excerpted in the minutes.
Separately, council members discussed an application from Lan Sky Spa and the Massage Therapist license application for Yan Tang and instructed staff to bring the item back for a decision at the March 17 council meeting.
Council also considered the application from Body Works by Jody and Jody Arnold. Because required licensing fees had not been paid pending an earlier work-session discussion about home-based business requirements, Mayor Lynn Kissock moved to approve the enterprise and therapist licenses contingent on receipt of the required fees; Councilor Scott Chantland seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
The council’s actions change the status of four pending massage-related applications: two were denied, one was approved pending payment, and one was continued to the March 17 agenda. The council adjourned at 8:33 p.m.; staff will return Lan Sky Spa’s application on March 17 for further consideration.
