Maple Lake council names Kris Logas acting mayor for 2026, approves consent agenda and check register

Acting Mayor Kris Logas was added to the city’s official designations for 2026 after the Maple Lake City Council approved Resolution 2026-01 at its regular meeting on Jan. 6, 2026. The nomination to add Kris Logas as Acting Mayor was made by Councilor Scott Chantland and seconded by Councilor Lori Hausken; the motion passed unanimously (3-0). The council’s consent agenda, approved by a 3-0 vote, included approval of the Dec. 16, 2025 meeting minutes; Resolution 2026-02 appointing 2026 election judges; Resolution 2026-03 accepting a donation; Resolution 2026-04 designating the 2026 polling location; the 2026 rates for the city attorney; and the 2026 meeting schedule.
Under new business, councilors discussed the check register. Councilor Lori Hausken moved to remove the check register from the consent agenda and later moved to approve the register in its new position on the agenda; Councilor Scott Chantland seconded. The council discussed an invoice from MSA related to the Safe Streets for All report before voting to approve the check register (3-0). The minutes do not specify the invoice amount or further details about the Safe Streets for All work.
City staff listed as present at the meeting included Andrew Johnson, Public Works Director; Cathy Reynolds, Interim City Administrator; and Deputy Long of the Wright County Sheriff’s Department. Announcements at the end of the meeting noted Planning Commission and MLEDA meetings on Jan. 13, personnel committee meetings later in January, and that City Hall would be closed Jan. 19 for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026.
The council adjourned at 6:17 p.m. after a motion by Councilor Scott Chantland, seconded by Councilor Lori Hausken; the motion passed 3-0.
