Committee explores taking over rental operations for Middle River Legacy Center

Deb Zak reported contacting Dawn Ganje of the Northwest Minnesota Foundation about roles the Middle River Legacy Fund could take in managing the Legacy Center. Committee members were told the fund can accept rental funds as project fees. Alaura Klegstad reported that rental fees in 2024 totaled $19,054.08.
Committee members discussed that the Middle River Legacy Fund is not set up to handle gym memberships and suggested scheduling a joint meeting with the Middle River City Council and with Stephanie and Tara Schenkey to discuss management of the Schoolhouse Airbnb. Committee members Guy Strandberg, Laura Dahl, Laurie Stromsodt and Deb Zak plan to attend the April 12 City Council meeting to provide an update on the Legacy Center.
Next steps: the committee will pursue a joint meeting with the City Council and the Schenkeys to clarify roles and responsibilities for rentals and memberships, and will report back after the April 12 council meeting.
