The Middle River Legacy Center Committee outlined an event calendar and contingencies at its Feb. 3 meeting.
A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is tentatively scheduled for April 12, 2025, but the committee said the event depends on completion of mold remediation and air-quality testing showing no health concerns; organizers must decide by Feb. 14 to keep the planning timeline. The meeting minutes record that the tournament cannot proceed without a cleared facility.
The committee confirmed the Mark Peterson Memorial Rodeo for Sept. 19–20, 2025, and recorded that a $1,000 deposit to Wojo’s Greenbush Rodeo has been paid. Minutes summarize contract terms discussed: compensation to Wojo’s of $25,000 plus half the cost of an announcer in 2025, with Wojo’s guaranteeing that half the announcer cost will not exceed $1,500 for 2025; the committee would assume full announcer cost in 2026.
Committee members scheduled a rodeo committee meeting for 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, and announced Diva Bingo on May 1, 2025, at the American Legion Club as a major fundraiser in partnership with the Middle River Community Club.
Next steps: the event timelines will be revisited after remediation and testing are complete; the rodeo committee will continue planning at its Feb. 10 meeting.
