Historic Preservation Commission grants six‑month extension for 117 E. Market Street project

The City of Crawfordsville Historic Preservation Commission voted 6-0 on Jan. 28 to grant a six-month extension to the conditional Certificate of Appropriateness for a proposed project at 117 E. Market Street.
Jon Oliver represented the request and showed a very early-stage rendering he had received the same day. Tommy Kleckner of Indiana Landmarks told the Commission the extension would run for another six months and said Mr. Oliver could provide an update at or before the next meeting. Megan Huckstep, director of Planning & Building Services, reminded the Commission that, in addition to the Commission’s requirements, there are other local and state code requirements that must be addressed. Kleckner added that a new Certificate of Appropriateness would be submitted with the project’s design plans.
Thomas Meeks moved to approve the six-month extension and Aaron Hurt seconded. The motion passed 6-0. The Commission did not set additional conditions beyond those already on the conditional approval; staff and the applicant are to coordinate on the formal submittal of design documents and any required code compliance prior to the next review.
The applicant may appear with updated plans at the next regular meeting or at the special session scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026, which the Commission arranged to ensure a quorum for upcoming reviews.
