According to the mayor, legislators combined to secure $900,000 toward the village’s new police department space in Village Hall, $355,000 to fund upgraded optic signals on traffic lights to help first responders move through the community, and $150,000 to support a traffic study focused on Lincoln and Menard. The mayor named Senator Villa, Senator Fine, Representative Gong Gershowitz, Representative Kelly and Representative Cochran as the legislators he thanked for assistance in securing funds.
The mayor used his report to recap recent infrastructure investments — including four major roadway resurfacing projects and the development of a capital improvement plan — and to promote the upcoming Morton Grove Days festival (July 2–5). Trustees later corrected a parade start time to 2:30 p.m. on Dempster Street; fireworks follow at dusk.
The funding amounts and recipients were reported during the mayor’s oral report at the June 23 meeting; the board did not take formal action on the appropriations at this session.
