Board approves support for Northwest ISD Education Foundation, signs MOU and appoints library advisory committee

The Northwest ISD Board on June 22 approved a resolution expressing the district’s support for the Northwest ISD Education Foundation and authorized a memorandum of understanding with the foundation.

Jen Burton, representing the foundation at the meeting, thanked trustees for their years of partnership and noted continuing collaboration to support students and teachers. Trustees moved and approved the resolution and the MOU as recommended by administration; both motions carried unanimously (vote recorded as six in favor).

During the same section of the agenda trustees nominated and then appointed a slate of members to the 2026–27 school library advisory committee. Appointees named in the meeting packet included Amanda Connley, Rebecca Boss, Stephanie Lesley, Rebecca Burton, Lauren Smith, Katherine Elio, Emily Holt, Ashley Harden, Kristen Hildebrand, Britney Bragg, Jamie Ikenberry, Sarah Thompson, Sunonny Johnson and Bridget Kosk. The appointments were approved by voice vote 6–0.

Why it matters The foundation partnership and MOU formalize ongoing collaboration that district staff said supports classroom resources and teacher supplies. The library advisory appointments populate a statutorily required advisory body that will advise the district on library services for the coming school year.

What’s next Implementation details for the MOU and any foundation‑led programs will be handled by the district and foundation per the MOU; trustees and administration thanked foundation staff for prior support and indicated continued coordination.
