Clerk/Treasurer Robyn J. Meek and Sewage Superintendent Scott Williams briefed the board on the town’s current network and the lack of service on the north side of the creek. The board asked staff to obtain cost estimates for a bore under Highway 7 and to check whether a new sewer main could be installed at the same time to reduce duplication of work.
The board also discussed a recent sewer blockage behind a private residence. North Vernon Utilities was called to clean the line, and the Madison Sewage Department later performed a camera inspection; the board said it will pursue follow-up repairs based on the camera findings. Board members additionally asked staff to obtain estimates for a lagoon study and smoke testing to assess system conditions.
Madison Railroad 811 locates for a planned fence installation have been completed; the fence is expected to be installed by the end of April and the town attorney is preparing an Agreement and Easement with the railroad related to the project.
The board did not adopt a financing plan during the meeting and directed staff to return with cost estimates and recommendations at a future meeting.
