Chattahoochee County authorizes FY2025 CDBG application and pledges $47,500 county match

The Chattahoochee County Commission voted March 4 to authorize filing an application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for Fiscal Year 2025 Community Development Block Grant funds of up to $1,000,000, and separately adopted a resolution obligating $47,500 from county funds to serve as match and leverage for the application.
Commissioner Jason Frost moved to authorize the application; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Gerald Douglas. The commission adopted the resolution authorizing obligation of funds for match and leverage by unanimous vote. The resolution directs the commission chair to execute application materials and provide any further documentation required by the Department of Community Affairs.
Meeting materials included a Letter of Agreement from the River Valley Regional Commission (RVRC) stating the regional commission will prepare and submit the application on the county’s behalf and will provide project planning tasks, preliminary historic and environmental assessment, public-hearing support and related services. The RVRC letter states the county will defray application production costs with a $750 fee for a new application or $500 for a rewrite if applicable.
The resolutions adopted during the regular meeting specify that the requested CDBG award would be used for a community facilities program in Chattahoochee County and that submission and execution of application paperwork is authorized by the commission chair. Signing blocks in the resolution show Chair Charles Coffey and County Clerk Lisa Bickel as signatories for the county.
County staff and regional partners will proceed with application preparation; the effect of the proposed project and the specific scope of any funded improvements were not detailed in the adopted resolution and will be defined in the eventual application if the county proceeds after RVRC’s assessment and public hearings.
