Cusseta–Chattahoochee commissioners confirm three elections-board appointments, adopt 2025 calendars

The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 3 approved several routine governance actions, including three appointments to the county Board of Elections, adoption of the 2025 commission meeting calendar and an employee holiday calendar for 2025, and the approval of prior meeting minutes.

The board approved resolutions appointing Nancy Hoard (term Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2028), Valerie Lassiter (term Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2026) and Crystal Walker (term Jan. 1, 2025–Dec. 31, 2028) to the Board of Elections. The appointments were moved and seconded by commissioners as recorded in the minutes; Commissioner Biddle recused himself from the vote on one appointment as noted in the record.

The board also adopted its 2025 meeting schedule, which sets regular meetings and work sessions (work sessions generally on the fourth Monday at 9 a.m.) and adopted the 2025 employee holiday calendar. The calendars list meeting dates through Dec. 2025 and specify the usual venue of 215 McNaughton St.

County Attorney Binford Minter told commissioners he has joined a new law firm, Clark Hill, and that his hourly rate will increase to $325 starting Jan. 1. County Manager Thomas Weaver said he and other staff attended a seminar on HB 581 and said the legislation “would be good for our county,” while explaining the opt-in/opt-out deadlines for changes to property-tax procedures.

Board members also approved routine minutes from previous meetings by unanimous votes. The Board of Elections pay for members was discussed; the minutes record $25 per meeting for board members, while poll workers are paid an hourly rate on election days.

These governance items were adopted as part of the regular meeting; no further action on these items was scheduled in the minutes.
