The Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County Commission handled several routine actions and motions at its Sept. 3 meeting, approving an appointment, a tax refund and administrative motions while tabling two agenda items for further work-session review.
Appointment: The commission approved a resolution appointing Rob Marion to serve on the River Valley Regional Commission (RVRC) for a one‑year term beginning Sept. 3, 2024 and expiring Sept. 3, 2025. Commissioner Jason Frost moved the appointment and Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded; the vote was unanimous.
VA tax refund and minutes approvals: The board approved a VA tax refund for Anthony Leach on a motion by Commissioner Timothy Biddle, seconded by Commissioner Jason Frost; the vote was unanimous. The commission also unanimously approved multiple prior meeting minutes and executive‑session minutes recorded in August.
Allowed and tabled items: The commission voted to allow businesses to establish accounts at the county recycle center (motion by Commissioner Frost, seconded by Commissioner Douglas; unanimous). Two items were tabled for further review: a request by the Board of Education to use Old City Hall (motion to table to next work session) and a proposed cardboard compactor at the recycle center (motion to table). The Board of Elections policy was placed for a first public reading at a work session per a motion by Commissioner Biddle; that procedure change was recorded as unanimous.
Personnel matter: Following an executive session, the commission amended the agenda to permit an advice‑and‑consent vote to hire a director. Commissioners approved the consent to hire and directed the County Manager to announce the appointee publicly at a later meeting.
