Hawthorne council confirms two appointments and approves consent resolutions including NJDOT grant application

Mayor Lane asked the council to approve the reappointment of Chris Deella; the motion (moved by Bennett, seconded by Sasso) carried on a roll call vote. The mayor also asked for a motion to appoint/deploy Gary Montroy as the borough’s housing code official; council moved that appointment (motion by WKI, second by Leosa) and it carried on roll call with Councilman Mey recorded as abstaining.
Council then considered consent agenda resolutions R90-26 through R94-26. The packet included: R90-26 (liquor license renewals for the 2026–2027 term); R91-26 (authorization to apply for and accept a 2027 NJDOT local aid grant for First Avenue and North 17th Street); R92-26 (professional services contract with Millennium Services Grant Writers); and R93-26 and R94-26 (disabled veteran tax exemptions). A motion to approve the consent agenda carried; Councilwoman Sasso recused/abstained on R90-26 and voted yes on the remaining items.
Motions and votes recorded in the meeting minutes indicate the council used roll-call votes for appointments and the consent agenda. No ordinances were introduced or adopted at the meeting.
