Crawfordsville board opens bids for multiple infrastructure projects, will review

The Board of Public Works and Public Safety in Crawfordsville opened competitive bids on Jan. 7, 2026, for several major infrastructure projects and voted to take the offers under advisement.
The first bid opened was for a sewer lift station at 150 S. Price. Price Excavating submitted a bid of $1,380,618; Mayor Todd Barton moved to take the bid under advisement and Erin Corbin seconded. The motion passed.
The board then opened bids for the South Elm Street Project. The bids received were JS McCullough Excavating $2,127,475.83; Milestone $3,055,280; and Price Excavating $2,374,001.50. Mayor Barton moved to take those bids under advisement; Susan Albrecht seconded and the motion passed.
Bids for the Purple Heart Parkway water main installation were opened next. SLB Pipe Solutions bid $1,373,229 and Price Excavating bid $1,257,203.50. Mayor Barton moved to take the bids under advisement; Erin Corbin seconded and the motion passed.
Finally, the board opened bids for the Purple Heart Parkway field drain and drainage-ditch reroute. The transcript lists bids from JS McCullough Excavating ($256,680.20), Price Excavating ($125,945) and Atlas Excavating ($630,500); the transcript also lists a bid by a company spelled both “SBL Pipe Solutions” and “SLB Pipe Solutions” ($377,140.50). Mayor Barton moved to take those bids under advisement; Erin Corbin seconded and the motion passed.
The board took no final contract actions at the Jan. 7 meeting; taking bids "under advisement" means staff and board members will review submissions and return with recommendations at a later date. The motions to take the bids under advisement were put by Mayor Todd Barton and seconded by board members, with all motions recorded as passed.
