Creek Club asks Rose Creek to fund park cell booster after $4,000 cancer-benefit turnout

Creek Club representative Kretta Menuey told the Rose Creek City Council on Dec. 4 that the group’s Nov. 18 cancer-relief benefit drew a strong turnout and produced about $4,000 in profit; beer at the event sold out. The Creek Club is using proceeds to support a senior scholarship and to assist residents with water bills and gift or gas cards.
Menuey also asked the city or the fire department to provide funds for a cell-phone signal booster in the park to improve connectivity during events and suggested improving acoustics in the fire-department shop. She said the Creek Club is preparing for holiday activities, including packing baskets Thursday, Santa’s visit on Dec. 10 and a Christmas light contest.
The request for a booster was presented as a renewed ask; the minutes do not record a council vote on funding. Menuey said the Creek Club will continue community programming including Spring Fling, the Rose Creek Farmers Market, Rose Creek Days and fireworks, Halloween Spooktacular and other events in 2023 and going into 2024.
