The Rose Creek City Council on Dec. 4 authorized purchase of a water-sampling kit and chlorinator for $657 and directed quarterly testing after maintenance staff raised concerns about manganese detected in the municipal well.
Maintenance worker Robert (Bob) Jax told the council the well draws from the Jordan aquifer and recommended buying the sampling kit and pursuing filtration to address manganese. Councilwoman Bobbie Greenlee moved to approve the purchase and filtration plan; Councilman Andrew Felten seconded and the motion was approved.
City Clerk/Treasurer Kristine Allas said notices will be sent to three recently added households to inform them about the well source. The council did not adopt a timetable for installation of filtration equipment during the meeting.
