At the start of new business on Sept. 9, the Student Council President and Vice President presented their mission statement; the board approved the statement on a motion by Pam Adams, seconded by Leanne Donason (Passed 3-0).
The board moved to table multiple sets of advisory policies (numbers 792–800; 801–807; 809–818; 909–914) for consideration at a subsequent meeting. Each tabling motion was moved and seconded and recorded as Passed 3-0 in the minutes; the minutes do not record substantive debate on the policies during this meeting.
The board reviewed and approved revisions to Advisory Policy GCCC-EC (Professional/Support Staff Leaves of Absence Without Pay) to align policy language with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Key changes included clarification of job restoration responsibilities, replacement of ambiguous phrasing ("most employees") with a requirement to restore employees to their original or equivalent positions, and removal of conflicting language about accrued benefits during FMLA leave. The motion to revise GCCC-EC was moved by Pam Adams and seconded by Valerie Grimes and Passed 3-0.
The meeting adjourned at 5:10 p.m.; the board set the next regular meeting for Oct. 14, 2025 and asked that items for the agenda be submitted to Superintendent Ramirez five business days before agenda creation.
