Board updates Auditor General corrective action progress and approves CWDL audit contract

During the July 8 meeting the Hackberry Elementary School District #3 governing board reviewed progress on a corrective action plan tied to the Auditor General report.
Business Manager Sam Dell told the board that 20 of 41 findings in the Auditor General report have been addressed through new policies and procedures and that documentation and process improvements remain ongoing. Dell said he will continue work on the remaining items.
Separately, the board considered requests for proposals for audit services (RFP 2025.001) and voted to approve a three‑event contract with CWDL to provide audits covering fiscal years 2024 through 2027; the motion passed 5‑0. The board recorded that future RFPs will be planned for subsequent years.
Members did not receive public comment on these items during the meeting. The board directed administration and the business office to continue implementing the corrective action steps and to coordinate the upcoming audit schedule with CWDL.
