Browerville council keeps existing solid-waste contract, schedules public hearing on proposed ordinances

Mayor Hannah Wieshalla called the Browerville City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. on March 12, 2025; Council Members Joshua Goertz, Christopher Minor and Sue Wiersgalla were present and Council Member Madison Rickbeil was absent.
The council approved the consent agenda, which included the Feb. 12, 2025 regular meeting minutes, payment of claims (electronic debits and checks dated 02/13/25–03/12/25; checks numbered 51390–51461) totaling $180,538.56, and a zoning permit for a storage shed at 30619 241st Ave. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Council Member Joshua Goertz and seconded by Council Member Christopher Minor; the minutes record the action as carried unanimously.
Department reports were received and approved. The Liquor Store submitted its monthly financial report; Public Works reported preparations for a spring project; Ambulance staff recorded 48 runs year-to-date and said the city is obtaining quotes to replace the ambulance; the Fire Department noted an annual banquet scheduled for March 15; Public Safety supplied a monthly report from Todd County that discussed patrol hours, speeding and a lack of traffic stops; and Administration provided a fund status report. Council Member Sue Wiersgalla moved to approve the department reports; Council Member Joshua Goertz seconded the motion, which the minutes show passed unanimously.
On new business the council reviewed a proposed solid-waste contract and elected to continue the existing contract and the addendum that was signed at the February meeting; the minutes do not record a mover or seconder for that decision.
The council scheduled a public hearing on proposed ordinances for March 26, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center. The minutes also note the Local Board of Appeals and Equalization meeting set by Todd County for April 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
Council members received notice from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency that the Memorandum of Understanding regarding PFAS monitoring at the wastewater treatment plant is complete.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:21 p.m. on a motion from Council Member Joshua Goertz, seconded by Council Member Christopher Minor; the minutes record the adjournment as carried unanimously.
