Browerville school board approves inclusion of intermediate district maintenance share in FY27 revenue application

The Browerville Public School District board on March 10 adopted a resolution authorizing the district to include its proportionate share of the Freshwater Education District's long-term facility maintenance (LTFM) program in the district's fiscal year 2027 revenue application.

Member Jodi Hillmer introduced the resolution, which the board seconded and passed unanimously. The Freshwater Education District approved a total FY27 LTFM program budget of $85,000; ISD 787’s proportionate share was listed in the resolution as $3,473.08 for pay-as-you-go projects. The resolution cites Minnesota Statutes 2023, section 123B.53, subdivision 1, as the statutory authority enabling member districts to include their share of an intermediate district’s LTFM costs in their applications.

The resolution specifies that the proportionate share is determined by multiplying the intermediate district program cost by a three-year weighted average adjusted pupil units formula. It states that for FY27 those long-term facility maintenance costs shall be funded through an annual levy, and that upon receipt of the aid or levy proceeds the district will promptly remit the applicable amount to the intermediate school district.

According to the minutes, the resolution was moved by Hillmer and seconded by Gram Bentz; members recording votes in favor were Keith Noska, Jodi Hillmer, Gram Bentz, Treg Schultz, Kelly Callahan, Marty Host and Chairman Bob Bryniarski. The resolution passed at the meeting of the ISD 787 board; no votes against were recorded in the minutes.

Next steps in the process are subject to approval by the Minnesota Commissioner of Education, per the language of the adopted resolution.
