Lindstrom EDA votes unanimously to pause Lake Lane listing and pursue concept planning with adjacent owners

The Lindstrom Economic Development Authority voted unanimously to pause the active listing of the Lake Lane/cable-house parcel and to ask staff to pursue high-level concept planning with adjacent property owners.
Dan told the EDA he had contacted adjacent owners; both sides said they were not prepared to buy but indicated a development concept plan could add value and that they would be willing to participate in planning. Dan said the realtor for one parcel (Altice Hayes) is actively marketing that property.
A member reported a recent 40-minute conversation with a Norillius family member who said the family is now open to selling, and argued the parcel “is pretty much essential to the development of that entire piece.” Another member urged the EDA to set a clear timeline for private parties to step forward, saying it may be “time to make a move.”
After discussion about preserving negotiating leverage versus clearing a site to make it shovel-ready, a motion was made to hold the listing, pursue concept-planning cost estimates (a high-level “ghost plat”), and ask staff to explore county cost-sharing. The motion passed by voice vote with all in favor.
Dan said he will follow up with the adjacent property owners, pursue cost estimates for concept planning and report back to the EDA later in the summer. The EDA directed staff to pause the listing while those concept-planning steps are explored.
