Town Manager Rebecca Hapgood and Recreation Committee member Martha Wentworth updated the Select Board on a problem with the Rent.fun kayak and paddleboard rental operation and said the town and vendor will work to resolve the issue.
Hapgood told the board that Rent.fun's solar panel was not working properly. Wentworth said people have inquired about rentals. The town will work with the company to “make this error right” and will change or update the contract start date to begin in June 2026, the board was told. The Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce has offered to run promotional material at no charge, and the town plans to produce videos to help promote the service.
No formal vote was recorded on the contract change; the item was listed as a manager communication and flagged as non-action at the meeting. The town will continue discussions with Rent.fun and return to the board with details as they are finalized.
