Center City Council approves consent agenda, event permit and disposition of old pier

The Center City Council approved its consent agenda on Oct. 1, 2024, on a motion by Councilmember Ryan Pease, seconded by Mark Wolcott; the motion carried 5-0. The consent agenda included routine minutes and claims and added review of a Cooper contract proposal to the Public Works docket.
Council granted an outdoor event permit to Tony’s Bar & Grill for Oct. 5 (noon–8 p.m.) after a motion by Pease, seconded by Lloyd Vetter; the vote was 5-0. City staff did not note special conditions beyond standard event permitting.
On Old Business, Public Works Director Mike Roggemann reported the DNR pier removal and new pier assembly went smoothly. The council voted on a motion by Pease, seconded by Vetter, to list the old pier for free; the motion passed 5-0.
A Cooper contract proposal that would have allowed Cooper to work as an independent contractor separate from the City of Shafer was presented to Public Works and was tabled pending clarification and confirmation from the City of Shafer.
The meeting concluded with a motion by Pease, seconded by Garrett Boulineau, to adjourn at 8:26 p.m.; that motion carried 5-0.
