Center City Council approves Shafer public-works aid, event permit and personnel actions in unanimous votes

Council approved an interlocal public-works assistance agreement with the City of Shafer under which Shafer Public Works Director Dan Cooper will provide up to five hours of assistance per month at $50 per hour when Center City staff lack required water and wastewater licenses (motion by Mark Wolcott; seconded by Lloyd Vetter; Ayes 5, Nays 0).
The council also approved an event permit for an open house at Nordic Harbor submitted by Nic Kirvida for Aug. 11, 2024, from 2–6 p.m. (motion by Ryan Pease; seconded by Garrett Boulineau; Ayes 5, Nays 0). Personnel items recorded unanimous approval: Public Works interim supervisor Mike Roggemann’s wage was raised to $25 per hour with a three-month review (motion by Mark Wolcott; seconded by Lloyd Vetter; Ayes 5, Nays 0); Eric Garner will continue as an independent contractor at his prior hourly wage through the end of the year (motion by Ryan Pease; seconded by Lloyd Vetter; Ayes 5, Nays 0); and applicant Shawn Gallagher was offered and accepted a Public Works position, with an authorized start date of Aug. 8, 2024 (motion by Lloyd Vetter; seconded by Mark Wolcott; Ayes 5, Nays 0).
No formal ordinances, resolutions, or budget appropriations were adopted at the meeting. A Chisago County Historical Society donation request was referred to the budget committee for consideration at a later meeting. The council adjourned at 7:58 p.m. on a motion by Ryan Pease, seconded by Garrett Boulineau (Ayes 5, Nays 0).
