Golf course manager: wet spring cost work but revenues remain slightly up

Jacob, speaking to the council about golf-course operations, said a persistently wet spring flooded the driving range and hole No. 1 but the course has maintained play and is roughly $2,000 ahead in revenue compared with the same period last year.
He said staff expect higher expenditures because of repairs and replanting but are planning cost-effective fixes and will sell or retire old equipment. Jacob and council members discussed capital replacement scheduling for items such as mowers and carts; staff said an updated multi-year capital plan will be presented to the council in July or August.
Council members thanked staff for keeping the course open and noted upcoming events, including a firemen’s tournament and a food-truck night. The council also discussed parking of equipment, auctioning surplus items and coordinating repairs during the off-season to limit play disruption.
