Long Prairie council adopts $1.185 million tax levy after Truth and Taxation hearing

The Long Prairie City Council adopted the city’s final 2025 tax levy of $1,185,215 following a Truth and Taxation hearing on Dec. 2. Jessica Cook of Ehlers Financial presented levy information to the council; there were no public comments during the reopened hearing and the council voted to adopt Resolution 24-12-02-33.
The levy adopted allocates $686,149 to the General Fund and includes amounts for outstanding general obligation bonds: $117,795 for the 2016A G.O. bond, $167,542 for the 2018B G.O. bond, $26,169 for the 2022A G.O. bond, $30,730 for the 2022B G.O. bond and $156,830 for the 2022C G.O. bond, bringing the total levy to $1,185,215.
Mayor David Wright reopened the Truth and Taxation hearing after an earlier technical delay; Cook reviewed the levy figures and no residents spoke during the hearing. Council member Gripne moved to adopt the levy; the motion was seconded and the resolution was adopted unanimously as Resolution 24-12-02-33.
The adopted levy is collectible in 2025 and funds the city’s general operations and scheduled bond payments. The council did not record any public protests or oral comments at the hearing.
