EAC readies Brightside for semiquincentennial amid parking, bridge, and easement questions

The Charlestown Township Environmental Advisory Committee on Feb. 9 moved forward on logistics and maintenance in preparation for the township’s semiquincentennial celebration at Brightside. Members confirmed a PA Outdoor Corp visit to Brightside on March 12 at 2 p.m. to review riparian maintenance, and Carol Armstrong and Pete Goodman will meet the PA Outdoor crew coordinator to coordinate work.
Committee members discussed parking for the event and whether Brightside’s conservation easements allow a township event with associated parking. A committee member (Green) is preparing a letter to the Board of Supervisors requesting clarification on Brightside conservation-easement restrictions as they relate to parking for the celebration.
Brightside Bridge work was assigned to Heleniak, who agreed to take responsibility; Dan Walker indicated he need not be involved. The committee emphasized the bridge repairs or adjustments must be completed before the semiquincentennial celebration.
The EAC also confirmed internal steps for event planning, including finalizing the event calendar and acquiring approved logo files for promotional materials. The committee will seek the Board of Supervisors’ final approval where required before event publicity and implementation.
