Commissioner announces nearly $10 million Veterans Village in Clermont County

Commissioner Bonnie Batchler announced plans for a Veterans Village at 2139 State Route 125 in Monroe Township, Clermont County, calling it a "future Veterans Village" intended to serve local veterans. She said the development sits on more than 15 acres and is "nearly a $10 million development."

Batchler outlined the project's layout and services, saying it will include 19 housing units — 16 one-bedroom and three two-bedroom apartments — that will be fully furnished with washers and dryers. She said the site will feature a community center that will "house some of the very important agencies that these veterans will need," allowing residents to access services on-site rather than traveling to Cincinnati. The site will also include a community room and a safe room for weather or family gatherings.

"We want to be able to help these veterans secure job training or needs to help them get back on their feet and give them the opportunity to thrive in this county," Batchler said, describing job training and supportive services as part of the development's goals. She said the project "is going to be managed through Metropolitan Housing here in Clermont County."

Batchler framed the development as a starting point for further growth in veteran housing locally: "We want to see this project grow. We want this to be the beginning, not the end." She closed the remarks by saying, "They've done a lot for us. They deserve our help."
