WEBB, Iowa — The Webb City Council met June 9 and completed routine monthly business, approving the May minutes and treasurer’s report, authorizing payment of the listed bills and granting a cigarette permit to Jackson’s Café.
Mayor Katie Mader called the meeting to order. Council members Gibson, Ganzevoort, Hansen and Riley were recorded as present. A motion to approve the minutes from the May regular meeting, moved by Hansen and seconded by Gibson, passed with all present voting aye. A second motion by Gibson, seconded by Riley, approved the May treasurer’s report; that motion also passed unanimously.
Council authorized payment of June 2025 bills after a motion by Ganzevoort, seconded by Gibson. The bill list included payroll line items (Tim Sylvester and Angela Smith), utility charges to Alliant Energy for the library, community center and fire station, payments to Iowa Lakes Regional Water for sewer services, Grow’s Garbage service, dues to NW Iowa Planning & Development and IAMU, and Premier Communications. The total of bills presented was $5,089.90.
The clerk reported May receipts and fund totals: General fund receipts of $5,832.58; local option tax receipts of $1,621.37; road-use receipts of $1,067.92; and franchise fee interest of $8.24, for total receipts of $8,530.11 for May 2025.
During updates, the clerk reported past-due utilities and said there were no current issues to report on street repairs, the water system, or the north area of the library building. Council voted to approve a cigarette permit application for Jackson’s Café on a motion by Ganzevoort, seconded by Riley; all present voted aye.
The clerk explained the citywide cleanup process and said she would check scheduling options with Arne. Other business included discussion of city office issues and the can redemption area. Gibson moved, and Hansen seconded, to adjourn; the motion passed and the meeting ended.
