The Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County commissioned a series of routine appointments and procedural votes at its Oct. 1 regular meeting.
Commissioners unanimously reappointed James (Jim) Wiehe (Post 5) and Ken Vanhorn (Post 4) to the Board of Tax Assessors for terms through Dec. 1, 2028. The motions were recorded in the minutes as moved and seconded and carried without recorded dissent. The commission also approved appointing County Manager Thomas Weaver to serve on the Two Rivers Regional Commission through Dec. 31, 2025.
Other actions taken at the meeting included approval of a refund to Beverly Riley and rescheduling the November regular meeting to Nov. 12 at 9:00 a.m. Several items were tabled for further consideration: the Board of Education’s proposed use of Old City Hall, a cardboard compactor for the recycling program, the Board of Elections policy pending a second public reading at a work session, appointment of a county engineer of record (Paul Rakel) and cemetery bylaws pending additional committee review.
On fleet purchases, the commission approved buying one vehicle for Board of Commissioners use to avoid losing a time-sensitive credit offer, while tabling two other vehicle purchases (for the sheriff and EMA) until December because of uncertainty about SPLOST revenue. The minutes record the board’s unanimity on these motions; individual recorded tallies were not provided beyond “unanimous.”
These votes reflect routine personnel and administrative governance; no ordinance adoptions or legal commitments were finalized for the tabled items at this meeting. The board convened an executive session as allowed under state law and later reconvened to adjourn.
