The Town of Dayton council on July 31 approved posting for a Utility Manager/Maintenance Superintendent and authorized increasing part-time maintenance hours to 30 per week.
Carla Snodgrass, Utility President, reviewed a draft job description and the qualifications required for the position, including the certified water operator license. The council agreed not to list a salary in the public job posting; pay will be discussed during interviews or based on applicants' resumes.
The council voted unanimously to move forward with the posting after Rocky Richards moved that Carla proceed with the job posting and Steve Schuhle seconded. The board set the posting to run for two weeks beginning Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. Carla also said she changed the job title and made a few other edits to the posting.
On a separate motion, Carla Snodgrass moved to permit the part-time maintenance employee to work up to 30 hours per week if needed; Steve Schuhle seconded. A roll-call vote recorded all five council members in favor and the motion passed 5-0.
No salary figures were released at the meeting; the council indicated compensation would be discussed directly with candidates. The council did not take further action on hiring at this meeting; the posting and the edits to the job description are the next steps.
