West Branch approves $341,878.81 pay estimate for flood improvements, signs agreements with NPS and OKs website accessibility contract

The West Branch City Council approved several resolutions and project items April 20 focused on infrastructure, intergovernmental assistance and digital accessibility.
On a motion by Councilmember Jerry Sexton, seconded by Colton Miller, the council approved Resolution 2026‑34, authorizing Pay Estimate Number 3 in the amount of $341,878.81 to Peterson Contractors, Inc. for the Channel Widening Flood Improvements Project (Wapsi Creek Widening). The vote was unanimous.
The council also approved two intergovernmental agreements with the U.S. Department of the Interior National Park Service: Resolution 2026‑35 (Law Enforcement Assistance) and Resolution 2026‑36 (Fire/EMS Department Assistance). Motions to approve each resolution passed unanimously.
Council approved Resolution 2026‑39 to enter a website services agreement with Revize Software Systems after staff noted the city’s website must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards by April 26, 2027. City administration reported that Revize offered the needed accessibility upgrades, fillable form capability and an ease‑of‑use interface for staff, and that the city can spread the cost over five years with no added interest. The council approved the Revize agreement on a motion by Colton Miller, seconded by Tom Dean; roll call was unanimous.
City Engineer Dave Schechinger reported that bidding for the West Main Street overlay project will close April 30 and that Boomerang Corporation is scheduled to resume work on Cedar‑Johnson Road when weather permits. The minutes also record that Peterson Contractors has continued work on the Wapsi Creek widening (topsoil spreading and seeding).
