New Germany approves cloud phone lease from Cady Technologies, citing roughly $32,000 five-year savings

The New Germany City Council voted 4–0 on March 17 to approve a five-year lease with Cady Technologies for a cloud-based phone system, a contract the city clerk said would save the city more than $32,000 over five years.

City Clerk Twyla Menth presented two vendor quotes and reported that references provided for Cady — the City of Ramsey and the City of Wayzata — were “extremely satisfied” with the system. Menth said the Cady proposal would install dialers at the water treatment plant and lift station and include a digital-to-analog option for the city hall elevator. The council was told the city’s current Frontier bill for phone lines and alarms is $905.65 per month.

Councilmember Paul Roepke moved to approve the Cady Technologies quote and Councilmember Lorn Herrmann seconded. The motion carried 4–0; the members recorded as voting yes were Mayor Shirley Jaeger and Councilmembers Lorn Herrmann, Thomas Mielke and Paul Roepke. Kevin Grove was absent.

The clerk noted Cady’s proposal is a 60‑month lease while an alternate vendor, Coordinated Business, proposed a 36‑month arrangement. The clerk estimated the five‑year net savings at more than $32,000 if the council selected Cady.
