The Rockville council on its regular monthly meeting approved a donations resolution that directs two $2,500 gifts — one from the Rockville Lions Club and one from the Rockville Area Sportsman's Club — toward a city-hall digital sign, and voted to pay the July 2024 bills.
The donations were presented to the council as part of a July donations resolution developed with guidance from the finance committee. The council moved to approve the resolution, and the motion passed unanimously. The council noted the donors by name during the vote: the Rockville Lions Club and the Rockville Area Sportsman's Club each committed $2,500 for the digital-sign project.
Council also considered and approved the list of July 2024 bills to be paid. The motion to pay bills was seconded and carried; council counsel Ryan Herberg recorded an abstention, stating a conflict related to specific check numbers. The record shows Herberg abstained on check numbers 22940, 22965 and 22989.
Council members also approved two minor agenda additions earlier in the meeting: adding an engineering report item involving a Martha Bowman CT matter and directing staff to transfer savings into departmental budgets and to continue tracking police budget activity. Those procedural amendments were adopted at the start of the meeting before the donations and bills items were taken up.
The council passed the donations resolution and the bills authorization during the meeting; no further action on the digital-sign project or additional budget adjustments was announced at the session's close.
